Civilization Gear Basics
How to build civilization equipment around troop role, set effects, debuffs, and acquisition reality instead of assembling the most expensive costume.
Learning Objectives
- Evaluate individual pieces and set effects.
- Prioritize the march bottleneck.
- Plan conquest and supremacy acquisition before crafting.
Why This Matters
Civilization gear is powerful because it combines large basic attributes, refinement potential, specialized effects, and set bonuses. It is also one of the easiest places to lock expensive materials into a poor combination.
The “best set” is usually a mixed equipment solution built around the march role, existing pieces, debuff needs, and realistic acquisition path.
How Evony Actually Works
Each piece has base attributes, star and amplification development, refinements, and set relationships. Conquest and Supremacy fragments have different acquisition pressure, and some set bonuses matter more than the label on the full set.
Step-by-Step Walkthrough
- Define the troop type and role.
- List owned civilization pieces and fragments.
- Compare each slot against the best available non-civilization alternative.
- Identify the march bottleneck: attack, HP, defense, march size, enemy debuff, or another condition.
- Build the target six-piece combination before crafting the next piece.
- Refine only after the long-term slot is confirmed.
- Revisit the plan when a new piece changes set-bonus math.
Optimization by Spending Style
Free-to-Play
Treat every fragment as a long-term decision and build around conquest accessibility.
Low Coiner
Finish high-impact slots and useful set bonuses before chasing cosmetic completeness.
Heavy Coiner
Model the mixed set, amplification, and refines together rather than buying every new set automatically.
Common Mistakes
- Crafting because a chest is available.
- Forcing a full set when a mixed set is stronger.
- Refining temporary gear heavily.
- Ignoring set effects and enemy debuffs.
Elphi's Recommendations
Plan all six slots before crafting one.
Permanent refines belong on permanent gear.
