Research Priorities Without Wasting Speedups
How to sequence Academy research so that each branch supports the account you are actually building.

Why This Matters
Research is one of the quietest sources of strength in Evony. It does not create a dramatic new graphic every time it improves, but it changes construction, gathering, march size, troop statistics, healing, reinforcement, and almost every other system.
The most expensive mistake is not choosing the “wrong” single technology. It is spreading gold and speedups across dozens of branches until none of them reaches the unlock that actually matters.
How Evony Actually Works
Academy technologies are arranged in prerequisite chains. Later technologies require earlier levels, building levels, research stones, gold, and time.
Foundation research creates compounding value. Role research creates specialization. A healthy account needs both, but foundation usually comes first because it makes the later research cheaper and more useful.
Step-by-Step Walkthrough
- Complete construction speed, research speed, gathering, and basic march capacity technologies early.
- Choose the primary troop type for your first serious PvP march and advance that branch before trying to build four equal combat branches.
- Develop monster and mounted research only to the level that supports your actual boss role; do not let bossing consume every research resource if PvP is the long-term goal.
- Advance hospital, healing, reinforcement, and march speed technologies if you participate in battlefield or SvS.
- Before a research event, prepare gold, research stones, duty generals, buffs, and Academy prerequisites.
- Queue long technologies during sleep or work hours and use shorter technologies while active so the Academy does not sit idle.
Optimization by Spending Style
Free-to-Play
Build deep, useful branches. A completed branch produces more value than six impressive-looking half branches.
Low Coiner
Use paid resources to finish bottlenecks such as research stones or a key event threshold, not to scatter progress.
Heavy Coiner
Do not skip planning because speedups are abundant. Gold, stones, and prerequisite buildings still become hard walls at advanced levels.
Common Mistakes
- Researching every troop type equally from the beginning.
- Spending all gold on cultivation and then discovering the Academy cannot continue.
- Ignoring march size and reinforcement technologies because they do not show as attack buffs.
- Starting an event push without enough research stones.
- Leaving the Academy idle while saving for a “perfect” event.
