Siege March Basics
Understanding balanced siege, big siege, small siege, and siege bombs before launching the most expensive lesson in the game.
Learning Objectives
- Distinguish siege march purposes.
- Use the correct tier distribution for the intended target.
- Understand why siege reports and healing costs demand discipline.
Why This Matters
Siege is not one march. Balanced siege, big siege, small siege, and siege bombs use different tier concentrations and solve different problems. Copying the wrong distribution can create enormous losses without achieving the intended trade.
Siege also exposes weak planning quickly. Troops are expensive, hospital pressure is severe, and a poor target can turn a theory lesson into a resource crater.
How Evony Actually Works
Balanced siege commonly emphasizes T13 and T11 while retaining meaningful upper tiers. Big siege leans heavily into T13. Small siege concentrates on T11 with T13 support. Siege bombs remove standard 1,000 layers and concentrate damage tiers for a sacrificial trade.
Step-by-Step Walkthrough
- Define the march type before opening the preset.
- Balanced siege: after layers, use about 40% T13, 30% T11, and split the remainder among T12, T14, T15, and T16.
- Big siege: after layers, use about 50% T13 and split the remainder among T12, T14, T15, and T16.
- Small siege: use about 70% T11 and 30% T13.
- Siege bomb: no standard 1,000 layers; use about 50% T13 and split the remainder among T11, T12, T14, T15, and T16.
- Use Honesty for attacking siege and Humility for defensive siege roles.
- Calculate the acceptable loss and healing plan before attacking.
Optimization by Spending Style
Free-to-Play
Do not rush siege merely because the theory is powerful. The troop and healing economy must support testing.
Low Coiner
Begin with controlled use and report review rather than mass production.
Heavy Coiner
Maintain separate named presets and verify the active one before every launch.
Common Mistakes
- Treating every siege attack as the same template.
- Adding standard layers to a siege bomb.
- Testing on targets too large to produce readable data.
- Ignoring hospital and healing limits.
Elphi's Recommendations
Name the preset by function.
A siege attack begins with an acceptable-loss calculation.
