Ghosting Under Pressure - Protecting Your Troops from Attacks
Ghosting means removing vulnerable troops from the keep so they cannot be killed by a solo attack or rally. Correct ghosting begins with keep design, presets, and location planning before danger appears.
Mission Objectives
- Understand what ghosting means in Evony.
- Build and operate a truly ghostable keep.
- Avoid the teleport and preset mistakes that expose entire marches.
Why This Matters
Troops without enough buffs and defensive structure to survive are free points when they remain in the keep. Ghosting protects them by placing them into marches away from the city.
A ghostable keep should stay small. Build only the troops required for each PvP march, boss march, reinforcement march, and necessary utility. Do not add defensive layers to a keep that is not intentionally designed to defend.
How Battlefield Actually Works
Troops can be placed in a ghost rally on a target keep, boss, or building; sent to reinforce a player or building; or sent to a camp, resource tile, pyramid, or other valid map destination when the event allows.
Presets are identified by their icons, not custom names. Players must know which icon contains each ghost and PvP march.
You cannot teleport while marches are out. Once a march leaves the keep, the keep is fixed in that location until the march returns. Therefore, teleport first, then ghost.
Ghosts can return because a rally is canceled, a building dismisses reinforcements, a timer expires, a march is recalled, or the game reconnects. Every unexpected return is an exposure alarm.
Battle Plan: Step by Step
- Keep troop volume within the number of marches you can reliably remove.
- Build preset icons for every ghost and practice the order until it is automatic.
- Teleport to the intended location before sending any march out.
- Ghost all vulnerable troops before scouting, reading chat, or attacking.
- Release only the march needed for the action, use it, and rebuild the ghost immediately on return.
- Recount marches after every teleport, disconnect, rally cancellation, building dismissal, and recall.
Optimization by Account Style
Free to Play
Staying ghostable is one of the strongest defenses available because it requires discipline rather than expensive buffs.
Low Coiner
Invest in march slots and complete offensive marches before building excess troop volume.
Heavy Coiner
Only abandon ghostability when the keep is intentionally transitioning into a tested defensive build.
Common Battlefield Mistakes
- Ghosting before teleporting and becoming port-locked by your own marches.
- Building defensive layers on a keep that cannot defend them.
- Leaving a partial march or high-tier layer inside the keep.
- Assuming preset names exist instead of learning the icons.
- Reading reports before rebuilding the ghost.
- Leaving troops exposed because the keep looks small.
Evony Logic & Philosophy - The ELPhi System
Teleport first. Ghost second. Fight third.
A ghostable keep is an offensive platform, not a half-built tank.
If the buffs cannot protect the troops, the troops should not be sitting in the keep.
